Show Charges Filed, October 3, 2013 Woman faces felony child abuse charges Police: Children fled home while the mother was out on a date By BUBBA BROWN Standard-Examiner staff OGDEN — A woman whose four children ran away in August is now facing felony charges for the incident. Amelia Dominguez's children — ages 12, 11, 8 and 4 — were reported missing from the family's Ogden apartment Aug. 19. Police searched throughout the night for the children, who were found the following morning at their grandparents' Washington Terrace home. According to a probable cause af fidavit, the children left while Dominguez, 28, was on a date at a bar with her boyfriend. The children reported to police that before Dominguez went to the bar, she got angry with them and grabbed her daughter's hair, throwing her to the ground. Dominguez then allegedly told her children Dominguez that she would kill them if they left. The children told police they ran away because they were afraid of Dominguez, according to the affidavit. Dominguez had also left her children, two of whom have mental disabilities, home alone earlier that day, from 1:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., according to the affidavit. Dominguez admitted to police that she grabbed her daughter and told them that she is sick of and hates her children, according to the affidavit. The children were put in the custody of the Division of Child and Family Services. Charged with two third-degree felony counts of abuse or neglect of a disabled child, Dominguez faces up to five years in prison for each charge, if convicted. Her initial appearance in court is scheduled for Tuesday. Contact reporter Bubba Brown at 801-625-4221 or bbrown@standard\ net. Follow him on Twitter at @BubbaBrownSE. 58 |
