Show February 19, 2013 February 23, 2013 ii Robert "Bob William Covey Robert William Covey passed away on February 19, 2013. He was born on October 14,1955 in Ogden, Utah to Earl William Covey and Roberta Jane Carling. Surviving are his father Earl William Covey (Wilma), mother Roberta Jane Carling, sister, Shaw sister, Hurd brother Nancy (Steve), Connie (Loren), Mark Earl Covey, sister Pamela Ruth Covey. He has left behind three nieces and four nephews and many cousins, aunts and uncles, not to mention, the countless rounders (friends). He graduated from Weber High School in 1974 and from Weber State College in 1977 with an Associate of Applied Science. He began working at Cross Western Wear in 1972 until its' closing. He began as a saddle makers apprentice and worked his way to- be the best master saddle maker-period. After the store closing he continued his mastery out of his home. In his youth, he enjoyed the competition of rodeos to no benefit of his own body. Robert has friended every cowboy in the state and ya'll know who we are talking about. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends and family. He did the best he could do to live by Roy's rule unless he was being Leonard Slye. Those lucky enough to cross his path and ride the same trail know what a great person he was and that the admiration and respect was mutual. Services will be held at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden. The viewing will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. The funeral will be held on Monday, February 25, 2013 at 11 a.m. with a viewing one hour prior. The family would like to thank all of his doctors and the staff for all of the quality care that they provided. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Primary Children's Hospital, in his name. Please send the family your condolences and a memory at www.leavittsmortuary.com Glenda "Luana" Rice Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully on February 23, 2013. She was born in Salt Lake City on April 23, 1931 to Glen and Olive Jameson. Luana grew up in Salt Lake City and met the love of her life, Walter Donald Rice, at a roller skating rink. They were married April 22, 1950, and settled in Slaterville. She worked for Ogden Poultry, the Standard Examiner, and for Ogden City School District. She also worked with her husband on their family farm. She enjoyed taking trips to Wendover, playing cards, bowling and spending time with friends and family. Luana's life works include children: Debbie (Gary) Susott, Walter Rice, Shelley (Steve) Couch, John Dale Rice, and Steven (Tami) Vaux. Grandchildren: Jennifer (Ben), Jeff (Mar- jeen), Marie (Carey), Jason, Glen (Brooke), Ellen (Justin), Tyler, Samantha, Mickala, and Hannah. Great-grandchildren: Alic, Ansley, Zack, Jacklyn, Julia, Dezeray, Audra, Berlin and Marissa. A viewing will be held Friday, March 1,2013 from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden. Funeral Services will follow at 2 p.m. Cremation under the direction of Leavitt's Mortuary. Per her wishes, a private burial will take place at a later date at Leavitt's Aultorest Memorial Park Please send the family your condolences and a memory at www.leavittsmortuary.com Butler February 24, 2013 Butler Gordon Jay "doc J" Butler will celebrate his 80th birthday. Family and friends may attend an open house in his honor from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Marriott- Slaterville City Hall on March 1. No gifts. He was born to Carl L. and Bernice H. Butler on March 1, 1933. He married Carole Parker on May 18, 1956, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple. Their children and spouses are Jeanne and John Clifton, Michael and Gwen Butler, and Joni Kent. He is a graduate of Weber High School, Weber State College, the University of Utah, the University of Washington and Loma Linda University. He has served communities in Utah, Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Missouri as a citizen, professional and religious leader. He retired at the age of 70 and served a two-year mission as a medical advisor for the LDS Church in the northern Mexico area. The grandparents of seven and greatrgrandparents of 12, they now reside in Weber County, the place of their youth. Jay Butler, brother of Mayor Keith Butler, is a strong supporter of the Senior Center, and has contributed paintings to the City. 164 |
