Show June 9, 2013 Slaterville Born Resident Reaches Milestone 90th Birthday Meyerhoffer June Regina Slater Meyerhoffer of Marriott-Slaterville will celebrate her 90th birthday. Family and friends may attend an open house hosted by her family in her honor from 3 to 5 p.m. on June 15 at the Marriott- Slaterville City Center, 1570 W. 400 North. No gifts. She was also honored with a family luncheon. The fifth of eight children, she was born June 12, 1923, in Slaterville to Enos Arnold Slater and Regina Richards Slater. Her vows to Leonard Layman Meyerhoffer were solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple on June 21, 1945. Following his U.S. Navy tour of duty during World War II, they purchased a home and farm in Slaterville. He died Jan. 7,1976, at the age of 61. She graduated from Thomas Dee Memorial School of Nursing in February 1945 with a nursing degree. Their children and spouses are Dan and LeAnn Dirr, Ren Meyerhoffer and Marilyn Meyerhoffer, Kent and Marsha Meyerhoffer, Glen and Shauna Meyerhoffer, Milo and Janet Meyerhoffer, and Jack and Lonna Jeppe- sen. Her positions in the LDS Church have included Primary president, Young Women's president and Relief Society president. She enjoyed working in the Ogden Temple for 16 years. She says she is proud of her pioneer ancestry and is a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She was honored as Weber County Mother of the Year in March 1979. She has enjoyed reading many books. She says her greatest joy is her family and spending time with them. She has 48 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and three great-great-step-grandchildren. 187 |
