Show Marriott-Slaterville Monthly History December 2013 "A wonderful holiday season" was wished the residents of Marriott-Slaterville City by Mayor Keith Butler in his Christmas Message in the December 2013 issue of The Pioneer Post. He thanked al! of the community volunteers whose labors benefit all in our community, and for the part each individual plays as a citizen of our City. The staff worked hard on a balanced budget this year, and for another year, we have had no property tax imposed, and have no city debt. With a special visit from Santa Claus of the North Pole, the annual Breakfast with Santa was held in the Senior Center on Saturday, December 14, 2013, from 9:00 -11:00 a.m. About 65 excited children and their parents attended. On the breakfast menu was cereal, pancakes, ham, eggs, donuts, apple and orange juice and hot chocolate. The fun event was again under the direction of Shauna Meyerhoffer. She was assisted by Mark and Debbie Stanger, and a throng of Meyerhoffer elves-head elf Glen, Jacelee, Stacee, Karen, Matt and McKenlee Davis. Stacee Meyerhoffer helped the children make Santa Claus' beards from paper plates, which they coub wear along with Santa hats given by the City. At the December 19, 2013, Council Meeting, Cory Cardon, Wood-Richards & Associates, Independent Auditor, gave the Financial Statements and Audit Report for Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2013. It is complete; the revenues and expenses are good, but still behind 2010 earnings. He reviewed the balance sheets, and reported the city is in very good shape. The Audit Report was approved by the City Council. Orvil Holley Youth Davb Bodily Family Joan and Gerald Taylor Darrell Mecham Community Service David Bodily Family After the presentation of the awards, the Council Meeting was adjourned for the annual Christmas Party for elected officials, staff, and volunteers. A dinner, catered by Bella's, was served in the Senior Center for about 70 people. Becky Burt can again be thanked for an evening of fun and food. An artble in The Standard Examiner on December 12, 2013, announced the arrest of Pamela Titensor, of Clearfield, for her alleged involvement in the October 27, 2013, robbery of the Marriott-Slaterville Maverik Gas Station. She is accused of plotting the robbery with her son. The stolen cash has not been recovered. Her son, David Connerly, claims that he burned the money. As if one robbery was not enough, the Marriott-Slaterville Maverik Gas Station was hit by another robbery, this time at 3:07 a.m. on December 24, 2013. Three men were apprehended and arrested in the case. They are suspected of robberies in Plain City and Farr West the previous week. The case is still under investigation, according to an article in The Standard Examiner on December 25, 2013.
