Show opportunity to enjoy 1960-70s music and socialize with friends. There were 84 In attendance. At the August 15, 2013, City Council Meeting, the Halloween Trunk-or-Treat which has been popular with the residents, was discussed. Because of the influx of non-residents, some changes must be made. It was decided that advertising for the event will be limited to residents and their families, and that the city will charge for food. Mayor Butler also expressed a concern about safety. October brought the annual Halloween Trunk-or-Treat at the Slaterville Park on Thursday, October 31, 2013. Early set-up began at 4:30 p.m., with treats starting at 6:00 p.m. Those who brought candy and participated had free entry. Entry for all others was $1.00 per person, which included trunk-or-treating, a hot dog, a donut, and a drink. This change brought in over $600 to defray some of the costs of the event to the City. Thanks also to the unnamed helpers-ghosts, goblins, and witches among them. The popular annual breakfast with Santa was announced in the November Pioneer Post, it will be held this year on Saturday, December 14, 2013, from 9:00 -11:00 a.m. at the Senior Center. Santa will pay a visit, so bring your camera. The cost is $3.00 for adults and $2.00 for children 12 and under. With a special visit from Santa Claus of the North Pole, the annual Breakfast with Santa was held in the Senior Center on Saturday, December 14, 2013, from 9:00 -11:00 a.m. About 65 excited children and their parents attended. On the breakfast menu were cereal, pancakes, ham, eggs, donuts, apple and orange juice and hot chocolate. The fun event was again under the direction of Shauna Meyerhoffer. She was assisted by Mark and Debbie Stanger, and a throng of Meyerhoffer elves-head elf Glen, Jacelee, Stacee, Karen, Matt and McKenlee Davis. Stacee Meyerhoffer helped the children make Santa Claus' beards from paper plates, which they could wear along with Santa hats given by the City. 20 |
