Show Marriott-Slaterville History September 2013 At the conclusion of the presentation and discussion, the Council voted unanimously to adopt the 2013- 14 Capital Investments Plan. Councilman Scott VanLeeuwen thanked Mr. Morris for his work on the plan. Mr. Morris said that city staff would like to try the Utelite Lightweight Aggregate Chip Seal on the roads, which goes further and lasts longer than the normal chip and seal. It doesn't have the rock chips which breaks windshields. It is a ceramic and has a better skid resistance for longer wear. Sheriff Terry Thompson attended the September Council Meeting and gave them an update on the property involving the Tear-a-Part Company, and that he was not aware that this company was going into that property. He wants that property to expand the jail complex, and is under a contract with the land owner. He has met with realtor Norm George who showed him some other properties, including the property to the north of the complex. Mr. George is writing up a contract to see if this property will serve for the complex. President Dennis Illum said that the land is prime business land for the city and has been zoned for that. The city has worked to bring in a business which pays sales tax needed for the city. He feels that if the sheriff's office buys this property, he would like them to reimburse the city for they revenue the city loses. After further discussion, the problem was unresolved-the City and Sheriff Thompson agreed to disagree. The West Davis corridor's deadline for official public comment ended on September 6, 2013. The EIS is available on www.udot.utah.gov/westdavis, with a hard copy available at various city buildings and libraries throughout Davis and Weber Counties. This large report documents all data, information, input and analysis the team has collected and studied for the past three years. It identifies UDOT's locally preferred alternative, a recommendation based on this data. Bits and Pieces June Perkins Campbell died on September 1, 2013, at the age of 61.
