Amelia Dominguez faced felony child abuse charges for actions on August 29, 2013, in an incidence which saw neighbors and police hunting for her four children reported missing.Some of our residents were shocked awake by a reverse 911 call in the wee hours of the morning of August 21, 2013, notifying them that four children, ages 4, 8, 11, and 12 were missing from their home at The Townhouse Estate Apartments, 1045 South 1200 West. The mother found them gone from their home about 8:30 p.m. on August 20, and called neighbors for any clues. Police knocked door-to-door searching, About 6:30 a.m. on August 21, they were found at the grandmother's house in Washington Terrace. Police investigated, and the mother was charged with felony child abuse in October 2013. A Standard-Examiner story on November 1, 2013, told of a n unusual case of robbery which surfaced when Maverik Gas Station employee Pamela Titensor reported being robbed at the Marriott-Slaterville station on Sunday, October 27, 2013. She claimed she left the station for the bank about 10:30 p.m. with a cash deposit of $7,000, when a man with a black face mask pressed "something cold and metallic" against her neck. He demanded she drive him to the Slaterville Park, where he left with the money, She reported the theft, and called her son to come to be with her. A resident had noted a suspicious vehicle at the park earlier, and the resident observed that the son came in the same vehicle seen earlier. The 24-year-old son, David Connerly, eventually admitted to robbing his own mother at gunpoint. He later said he planned the crime with his mother. The case was under investigation and the $7,000 was still missing A later article in The Standard Examiner on December 12, 2013, announced the arrest of Pamela Titensor, of Clearfield, for her alleged involvement in the October 27, 2013, robbery of the Marriott-Slaterville Maverik Gas Station. She is accused of plotting the robbery with her son. The stolen cash had not been recovered. Her son, David Connerly, claimed that he burned the money. As if one robbery was not enough, the Marriott-Slaterville Maverik Gas Station was hit by another robbery, this time at 3:07 a.m. on December 24, 2013, Three men were apprehended and arrested in the case. They are suspected of robberies in Plain City and Farr West the previous week. The case is still under investigation, according to an article in The Standard Examiner on December 25, 2013. Councilman Delbert Hodson stated at the August 15, 2013, City Council Meeting, that he seldom sees any Sheriff Department patrols in his area. He also requested that the sheriff focus more attention on the enforcement of the 1200 West weight limit. Activities and All That Fun There is much more to the City than issues, problems, and worries. An important part is city sponsored fun activities. The City has joined with Harrisville for an affordable youth recreation program. Sign-ups for baseball and softbail ran from March 1 to March 31, 2013.
