Dickamore On the last day of April, 2013, Marvin L. Dickamore peacefully completed his journey on earth. He was born on January 10, 1937 in Slaterville, Utah to John and LaVon Dickamore. He married LaRue R. Jensen on July 1, 1972, and twenty nine years later on June 30th, 2001 they were sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple. Early in life Marvin was drawn to horses. He spent many hours, with the animals he loved, chasing the dream of the American cowboy. He shared this passion with his family, and they supported him in horse racing, raising ba bies, and riding with him on the river. Marvin loved the summer sun, old-fashioned country music, and reading books. He was a fan of homemade bread, mashed potatoes with gravy, teriyaki beef and sticky rice. On a hot summer day nothing hit the spot like a banana creamsicle, or peaches with milk. He owned a plethora of tools, and he loved working with his hands as long as he was able. He was an accomplished roofer, and the builder of many special projects for his family. Marvin proudly served his country from 1956 to 1960 in the U.S. Air Force, and he worked as an aircraft mechanic at Hill Air Force Base retiring in 1993. He spent many hours supporting his daughter at various sports events, and continued this effort with his grandchildren. His grandkids were his main source of happiness and purpose for the last nine years of his life. He lived to watch them succeed, to feel their arms around his neck, and to listen to their stories. If you knew Marvin at all you knew that he had a great sense of humor. He loved to share jokes, and he could turn the hardest situation into something that seemed easy through his gift of laughter. Throughout the years the various nurses and staff who cared for him could not resist his charm and he turned the burden of being a patient into an art. They were happy to care for him, and they looked forward to seeing him each time he returned. His knack for looking on the bright side was one of his most wonderful attributes. His membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was extremely important to him. His testimony of the gospel and of the Savior carried him through many hard days. He was a fine example of faith, prayer, and endurance to each person that witnessed his courage and strength. Marvin will greatly be missed by those he leaves behind. They include his wife of 40 years, LaRue Dickamore of Slaterville; his daughter Marvett (Jeff) Smith of Farr West, and their three children: CJ who he often said was so special, beautiful little Kaci, and his best buddy Cooper. He also leaves behind his four step-sons, Garth (Connie) Brown of West Weber, Mickey Brown of Slaterville, Terry Brown of Harrisville, and Shawn LaRoque of Duchesne as well as nine step-grandchildren, and 26 step-great grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters: Carma Dickamore of Slaterville, Darlene (Dennis) Chugg of Farr West, Marge (Larry) Peterson of Vernal, and one brother Dennis (Carol) Dickamore of Slaterville. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one brother. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at McKay-Dee Hospital and Wound Care Center who cared for Marvin many, many times, as well as the staff at the George Wahlen Nursing Facility for their kindness. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 4, 2013,1:30 p.m. at Marriott-Slaterville 3rd Ward, 250 N. 1500 W. Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street and from 12:15-1:45 p.m. prior to services on Saturday at the ward. Interment: West Weber City Cemetery.
