Father in Heaven on May 6, 2012 at the age of 61. | Herman — was born May 3) A980" in Tuskegee, Alabama to Hen- | ry Sr. and Lillian.C. Hooten. He married ‘Kathleen —= Gianoli, and_ together they had two children, | Melanie and Daniel; later di- vorced. He married the love of his life, Vickie Shapiro, on August 26, 1988. They were blessed with two children, Megan (Jase) and Colin. They were later sealed for Time and All Eternity in the Ogden Utah Temple. Herman was a tremendous athlete, and had the opportunity to attend the University of Notre Dame on a football scholarship. — He later obtained his Masters de- gree in Social Work at the Uni- — versity of Utah. Herman accepted a position at the University as the Program Director of the Ethnic Minority Health Center, and was Sciences instrumental in. expanding the program the boundaries of beyond Utah. He ‘served as a Professor of Social Work at Weber State University until the time of his death. ae He served in various callings. in the LDS Church and gave self- | lessly of his time to help a stu- dent, friend or stranger achieve | his or her goals. Throughout his life he volunteered his time to causes he believed in while serv- ing with several community and academic boards and commit- tees. Herman provided guidance and inspiration to many, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Herman is survived by his wife; four children; two grandchildren (Carter Anthony and - Gabriel Marcus); brother, Henry Jr.; sisters, Nancy (James Garrison) and Angela and countless extended family. He is preceded in death by his loving parents. _ Funeral services will be held ~ at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the Pleasant View 6th _Ward Chapel (900 West Pleasant View Drive). A viewing will be held on Friday, May 11th from _ 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Myers Ogden | Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. and on Saturday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the service.
