Show Modestine Aline Carpenter vane 26, 1928 ~ January 26, are ae Our balooed mother oo dbepetivithen tbisecting Ghee: ter, a woman of grace, strength and full of Gods mercy, returned to her Heavenly home on January 26, 2016. She was born on June 28, 1928 in Tyler, Texas to Oscar K. Truesdell and Lille Bell Travis. Modestine married her sweetheart, _ John E. Carpenter on July 4, 1946. They spent 55 wonderful years together until his passing in 2001. She lived the first part of her life in Tyler, Texas and has - made Ogden her home for the last 63 years. She was a faithful member of the New Zion Baptist Church’ for more than 50 years. She served as a Deaconess, President: of the Missionary Society, and was a Sunday School Teacher. Modestine retired from Kmart after 22 years. She also. worked for Futures Through Choice. She enjoyed puzzles, cross stitch, cooking, and canning. She loved spending time with her family and friends sitting on her porch. She is survived by her children: Dr. Donald R. Carpenter, . Randolph (Bobbette) Carpenter, Johnny (Sabrina) Carpenter, Linda (Lorenzo) Carter, Sheila Carpenter, Steven (Sandra): Carpenter, Byron (N atalie) Carpenter, Michael (Cynthia) Car-: penter, Douglas (Robin) Carpenter and Dennis (Cashawn): Carpenter; 38 grandchildren and a host of great and great-: great-grandchildren; brother, Carl Jones; sister, Alneta Wil-’ liams and her very close friend, Bina McCowan. a _ She was preceded in death by her husband, John; daughter, Charlotte Carpenter; parents; brothers, Travis Willis, Jessie. ‘Jones, and James Jones; a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Ann Car-: penter, and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the New Zion Baptist Church, 2935 Lincoln Ave. A viewing will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd and prior to services from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. at the church.
