Show Provided by Lindquist Mortuaries and Cemeteries Marion Glen Carter October 1, 1918 ~ January 12, 2017 (age 98) Marion Glen Carter October 1, 1918 ~ January 12, 2017 Our beloved family patriarch, Marion Glen “The Rock” Carter of Washington Terrace passed peacefully and with grace from this mortal realm at Brookdale Senior Living Solutions in North Ogden on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the age of 98. Marion was born October 1, 1918 in Davenport, lowa. The devoted son of the late Jerry and Eva Lee Bell Carter. His entrepreneurial parents made a home, along with other real estate investments, in Ogden, Utah in the early 1930s for Marion and his younger brother, who saw him as a father figure, where they were raised and schooled. They were married April 8, 1948 and resided together in Ogden until her death separated them Sunday Morning, April 10, 2011. He retired on August 29, 1980 as a shift foreman in the Central Boiler Plant, heating systems unit, which supplies heat and industrial steam for Hill Air Force Base. During his nearly 40 years of federal service at Hill, Marion received many awards for his service including letters of commendation and sustained superior performance awards. Marion dedicated his life to the service of his family and supported Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch south Ogden 1945. After a time of courtship Marion traveled all the way from , Utah them in all capacities. He was a great example of hardworking, determination, strong-willed, intellectual curiosity, integrity, dependability and emotional and financial stability. He was an avid reader, woodworker and oil painter and he had the extraordinary ability to turn any family occasion into a ‘grand event’ with his unforgettable BBQ and homemade ice cream...they were such a special treat! But first and foremost Marion enjoyed traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. |
