Show Organizational Development Counseling The department will also provide a climate for development and furthering the affective part of education. This consists of the infusion of affective, ethnic minority, and women's objectives into the curriculum. Organizational Development will provide programs of training and development for faculty and staff who are interested and willing to change their curriculum by implementing these objectives. It is also designed to provide in-service training for faculty and staff cohesiveness. Another objective is community service; the affective programs will be offered to the community to further establish relationships between Weber State College and the surrounding areas. HUMAN POTENTIAL SEMINARS The Human Potential Seminars are designed to assist the individual to become more self-affirming, self-motivating, and to indicate an increasing empathetic regard for others. The Human Potential Seminars are offered for credit to students through the Department of Psychology. However, they are offered for staff and faculty development and for off-campus needs through Organizational Development. It is also the responsibility of Organizational Development Human Potential trainers to monitor the quality of this program throughout the entire campus. IN-SERVICE TRAINING FOR EDUCATORS Richard F. Thomas, Director The In-service Institute is funded by Title IV of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and is designed to provide cultural awareness experience for public school personnel in the school districts of Davis, Duchesne-Uintah, Salt Lake City, and Tooele. VISTA VISTA is a program supervised by Weber State College that operates in conjunction with Ogden City School District. The program is designed to locate potential school dropouts and to provide aid through VISTA Volunteers to retain students until completion of their programs. STUDENT DEVELOPMENT Ralph D. Marsden, Director The Student Development Services consist of the Counseling and Testing Center, the Ethnic Studies Institute, the Learning Center, and the Student Assistance Program. These programs have been combined for the express purpose of developing a college community that is warm and personal which will enable students to discover their own self and values. That is, to develop a humanizing atmosphere that will provide students with the opportunity to be known as persons and to enable them to care and be cared about by others. The basic assumptions parallel those of the Human Potential Seminar. That is, something is right with the student, every student is a gifted student, and healthy persons can more effectively actualize their own giftedness by working from a positive base rather than a negative one. The department is, therefore, committed to the self-actualization and personal growth of all students on campus in an effort to enable them to reach their full potential and participate in a satisifying educational experience.
