Show THE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION Caseel D. Burke, Dean Blaine P. Parkinson, Associate Dean The School of Education includes the departments of Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Family Life, and Health, Physical Education and Recreation. It accepts the general goals of the College and makes every effort to implement them. In addition, it recognizes its specific responsibility for providing college students with constructive learning experiences within the fields it specifically encompasses. It is in the quality of our homes and schools and in the personal lives of our people that the School of Education senses its responsibilities and its opportunities. The challenge is to help our students lay foundations for happy and constructive home living, for leadership in schools and other service agencies devoted to man's welfare and improvement, and for habits and practices which help develop and maintain the physical and mental alertness and vigor which are needed for all life's tasks. There is special commitment toward helping our students become leaders of children and youth. Whether it be in nurseries or homes, on the playgrounds or courts, or in the study halls or classrooms, a sincere effort is made to help the students acquire the judgment, the skills, and the attitudes which will be used to motivate and lead young people toward excellence. Students completing baccalaureate programs in the School of Education will be granted either the bachelor of arts or the bachelor of science degree. Students may have majors in the School of Education in the following fields: Child Development Early Childhood Education Elementary Education Family Life Physical Education Physical Education (Teaching) Students may also take departmental minors in the School of Education in the following fields : Child Development Dance Family Life 261 |
