Show Area Occupational Career Center trade. The student will learn to spread mortar, lay block to line, and build corners, using different size blocks. (10 hrs/wk.) PV075. Bricklaying II—This course mainly concentrates on the use of bricklaying in home construction. It deals with spreading mortar, laying brick to line, building brick corners, laying sills and other types of bricklaying commonly used in brick veneering. (15 hrs./wk.) PV076. Bricklaying III—This course offers more advanced skills needed to enter into commercial work. This will include laying both brick and block and will concentrate in over-the- wall techniques used in commercial construction. (15 hrs./wk.) Floor Covering At the completion of this training, students will know the basic skills for installation of floors with different types of tiles and installation of carpets. COURSES OF INSTRUCTION PV0080. Tilesetting I—This course introduces tools used in tilesetting, preparatory work for receiving tiles, strip setting, installation of floors, walls and dashboards, water-proofing and reinforcements. (10 hrs./wk.) PV0081. Tilesetting II—Instruction covers installation of floors, glazed mosaic, ceramic, quarry and cement tiles, with open joints and cove corners. (15 hrs./wk.) PV0082. Tilesetting III—This course includes installation of ceiling jambs, curbs, gutters, columns, stairs, arches, panels, fireplaces; cutting, drilling and polishing of marble. (15 hrs./ wk.) PV0083. Carpet Laying—This course introduces common tools and materials used in carpet-laying; care of tools and materials; planning, cutting and carpet laying. (15 hrs./wk.) Upholstery At the end of this training, students will be able to do basic repair, remodeling and upholstering of furniture. PV084. Principles of Upholstery—In this course, theory of furniture repair, upholstering, hand tools, machines, cloth textures, color combination and designing is presented. (10 hrs./ wk.) Area Occupational Career Center PV085. Upholstery Practice—Practical experience in furniture repair, upholstering, remodeling, and machine sewing; and wood finishing. (15 hrs./wk.) PV086. Advanced Principles of Upholsterk — Introduce theory in the fundamentals of designing modern furniture, period and antique furniture, upholstering and tufting; automotive seat covers, designing and trim work. (10 hrs/wk.) PV087. Advanced Upholstery Practice—Practical experience in building and upholstery of modern, period, and antique furniture requiring special tufting work; construction of seat covers, headline and trim work. (15 hrs./wk.) Electronic Assembly Upon completion of this training, students will be able to work as electronic assemblers. COURSES OF INSTRUCTION PV090. Electronic Assembly—This course presents basic concepts and techniques of electronics assembly line production. The skills and knowledge acquired here are for assembly of electronic equipment, such as computers, movie and T.V. cameras and T.V. sets. Training includes wire preparation, soldering components, symbol identification, color code reading, harness tying, cleaning and repairing circuit boards, schematic reading, safety procedures and use of tools. (30 hrs./wk.) Building Drawing and Materials COURSES OF INSTRUCTION 051. Building, Drawing and Materials—Drawing symbols and detailed layouts related to building construction. Prerequisite: Intermediate mechanical drawing. Individual instruction. Two laboratory periods a week. (2) 052. Advanced Building, Drawing and Materials—Continuation of building, drawing, and materials home planning, floor layouts, elevations, stairs, sections, and plot plans. Individual instruction.
