Show Technology — Auto Body Technology — Auto Body 100. Fender Repair—Theory of the working properties of automotive sheet metal, the effect of force on shape, use of the oxyacetylene equipment in collision repair, welding, brazing, soldering, cutting, shrinking, effect of heat, metal bumping, power and hand tools, hydraulic and mechanical assist equipment. Five lectures. W (5) 101. Fender Repair—Skill development of the fundamental principles and practices of roughing out metal, metal bumping, buffing, sanding, shrinking, welding, metal finishing, solder and plastic fill, pulling and pushing with hydraulic and mechanical devices. Five 3-hour laboratories a week. W (5) 110. Auto Refinishing—Theory of the operation and set-up of paint spray equipment, compressors, transformer, air lines, spray booths, and spray guns. Color composition, paint mixing, lacquer, enamel and acrylics ; spot repairs and complete refinishing, detailing, stripping, job costs, customer relations. Industrial application, such as refrigerators and other such products. Five lectures. A (5) 111. Auto Refinishing—Training in the care and use of spray equipment, preparation of surfaces for refinishing proper building up, sanding and color application of lacquer, enamels, and acrylic type products, spot repair and complete refinishing. Detailing, rubbing and polishing techniques. Continuation of Auto Body 110. Five 3-hour laboratories a week. A (5) 114, 115, 116, 117, 118, 119. Auto Body and Refinishing— Roughing out metal, leading, shrinking, welding, and metal finishing; care and use of the various types of spray painting equipment and the fundamental procedures in color matching and blending touch-up. Two 3-hour laboratories a week. AWS (3-3-3-3-3-3) Evening 120. Auto Body Collision Repair—Theory in time and cost estimation of collision repairs, making customer and insurance bids. Repairs or replacement of auto body sheet metals parts and related damage, such as the running gear and engine parts. Reading of flat rate and service manuals. Technical problems in checking and alignment of body and frame. Windshield replacement. Five lectures. S (5) 121. Auto Body Repair—Training in the replacement of sheet metal parts such as tops and repair quarter panels, front end collision repair, windshield replacement and continuation of Auto Body 111. Five 3-hour laboratories a week. S (5) 200. Auto Body—Theory of door adjustments, outer door 314 panel replacement and window replacement. Checking and correcting wind, water and dust leaks. Heating, ventilation and electrical systems, power windows and windshield wipers. Fiberglass body repairs and introduction to Arc Welding. Five lectures. A (5) 201. Auto Body—Training in technique of door repairs, lubricating body mechanisms, electrical repairs. Repair of the fiberglass body and continuation of Auto Body 121. Five 3-hour laboratories a week. A (5) 210. Principles and Practice of Construction—Theory in alignment and straightening problems pertaining to the automobile chasis including frames, axles and springs; also, theory and operation of front wheel suspension steering gear, drive shafts and brakes. Five lectures. W (5) 211. Principles and Practice of Construction—Aligning, straightening problems pertaining to the automobile chasis including frame, axles and springs; also, theory and operation of front wheel suspension, steering gear, drive shafts and brakes. Five 3-hour laboratories a week. W (5) 220. Auto Trim and Upholstering—Theory in repairing, cleaning and replacement of auto body trim, including head liners and seat cushions. A review of customer relations, bidding and repair techniques. Planning a shop and shop location. The employer's problems and overhead. Five lectures. S (5) 221. Auto Trim and Upholstery—Practice in the repair and replacement of the auto body trim, headlinings, trim pads, wind lace, seat cushions, and repair of seat mechanisms. Applying simulated wood grain and brush graining. Stripping, lettering and stencil work. Continuation of Auto Body 201, 211. Five 3-hour laboratories a week.
