Lamont Shupe, Assistant Director of the Union David Rich, Coordinator of Student Government Ray Myers, Coordinator of Student Activities The Weber State College Union is the social-cultural, and recreational center of the campus for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests. All student government facilities, offices and council rooms are located in the Union. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests are encouraged to use the facilities and services. Reservations for meeting spaces and other facilities should be made well in advance. A list of services are available at the Weber State College Union. All groups using the facilities are required to observe Union policy. Those groups who do not observe Union policy will be excluded from using the facilities. Staff members working directly with the students are: the Director of the Union and Student Activities, Assistant Union Director, the Coordinator of Student Activities, and Coordinator of Student Government. Students serving on Union Activities Committees are provided opportunities for growth in human development. Union committees available are: Arts and Crafts, Dance, Exhibits, Films, Games, Hospitality, Lectures, Music and Talent, and Special Events. All students are invited to apply to the student body officers, to the committee chairmen, or the union staff for assignments to these committees. ASSOCIATED STUDENTS The Associated Students of Weber State College operate under the ASWSC Constitution. The ASWSC provides the opportunity for students to serve either as an elected student officer or on several committees. Elected student officers include the student body president, vice president, and senators. ASWSC committees include Leadership, Elections, Community Service, Orientation, Ombudsman and others as organized. COMMUNITY SERVICE COMMITTEE The Weber State College Community Service Committee has been organized to maintain public relations for Weber State College, to provide an outlet for campus talent and develop student participants, and to serve the community. In cooperation with the Office of College Development, the Community Service Bureau compiles a roster of current talent and assists requesting organizations in securing programs for the community. ACADEMIC ADVISEMENT Floyd J. Woodfield, Director At the time of admission to Weber State College, every student is assigned to a faculty adviser in his major field, in General Education, or in Guided Studies. Through an appropriately assigned adviser, guidance is available for each student as he plans his registration schedules and moves toward a degree of his choice or towards a certificate program. When a student is placed in Guided Studies, or on academic probation, he is assigned a counselor in the Counseling and Testing Center. A student may seek assistance from his adviser or counselor with any educational or personal problem at any time. For information concerning Academic Advisement, inquire at the Office of Advisement. BOOKSTORE The College Bookstore, located on the ground floor of the Union Building, is the source for all college text books and supplies. The bookstore will be open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily, Monday through Friday. The evening hours will be from 5 p.m. 76 77 |
