Show William Clarence Haywood, Jr. AKA HERC, Noonie or Bill Born July 17, 1952 at the U.S. Naval Base in Guam to William Clarence Haywood, Sr. and Berry Bena Samples-Haywood. Although he spent younger years in Oregon, TX., he was reared and educated in Ogden, UT. In 1970, William graduated from Ben Lomond High school where he played football as a linebacker and represented the Scots in the State Wrestling Competition in 1969 and the 1° Black student body officer at Ben Lomond. William continued his education at Utah State University, transferring to Southern Texas University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 1974. He pledged The Delta Theta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., in 1972, and was also an active brother of the Pi Xi Lambda Graduate Chapter of Salt Lake City, UT. He was previously married to Roslyn Haywood and was a marvelous step father to her daughter Amber Peters. On May 23, 1998, he married the love of his life, Linda J. Green in Las Vegas, Nevada and he helped her raise her daughter Destiney Green and helped take care of her family. William served twenty years as a Budget Analyst for Thiokol Aerospace and was employed with the State of Utah DABC where he retired as Assistant Manager of the Fort Union Store in August 2015. Outside of his professional interests and accomplishments, Williams’s interests were many. He was known for extending his accounting skills by preparing personal taxes. He was extremely passionate about children and invested heavily in them with his time and giving attention to their academic and athletic success. William also loved to cook, he was known for his smoked meats and Gumbo supreme. He was an avid football player, wrestler and loved all sports. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Linda J. Green-Haywood of Salt Lake City, UT; two step daughters Amber Peters of Las Vegas, NV and Destiney Green (Ibrahima Dabo) of Salt Lake City, UT; his mother: Berry Bena Haywood of San Antonio, TX.; four sisters: Beverly Ann Scott of Detroit Michigan, Sherry Heath of Aguste GA., of Patricia Haywood San Antonio, TX, and Mary (Larry) Scott of Houston, TX; one brother, James N. (Syndi) Haywood of Sandy, UT; one granddaughter: Honor Eve Dabo of Salt Lake City, UT. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends; his childhood brothers, Tommy Smith, Emmette White Sr., Les Towsend, Roy House and their families. He was preceded in death by his father, by Big Mama and other family members. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday March 12, 2016 at Second Baptist Church located at 222 27" St., Ogden, UT., at 1:00 pm. The family will receive visitors from 12:00 — 1:00 pm.
