Jerrydene was born on September 20, 1949 in Ogden, Utah to Alexander Johnson and the eldest of four daughters to David and Pearline Steward Blakeley. Jerrydene was affectionally known as “Jerry” to all who knew and loved her. Jerry attended Ogden City Schools. She worked at the Defense Depot Ogden (DDO) and volunteered for several years at the Problems Anonymous Action Group (PAAG), where she received the "Citizen of the Year Award" for 1986 — 1987. Jerry also worked at the Mansion House Restaurant as a Night Custodian. Jerry enjoyed listening to music on her radio, watching the Price is Right, Family Feud, | Love Lucy and Andy Griffith shows. She loved sitting on her front porch of her home, eating hamburgers, Snickers candy bars and Kentucky Fried Chicken. In her younger days, she liked cooking for the family. More than the aforementioned things, Jerry dearly loved her grandparents, parents, three sisters (who her parents affectionally called their ‘four-peas-in-a-pod’'), brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins and best friend from childhood Kaye Dykster. Jerry received Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at the New Zion Baptist Church at an early age. She so enjoyed being served Holy Communion in her home for the past several years by the Deacons of the New Zion Baptist Church. She is survived by her sisters: Rev. Lillie Holman (Ogden, Utah); Helen (Adam) Smith (Sierra Vista, Arizona); Betty (David Sr.) Smauldon (South Ogden, Utah) and her nephews; David (Malaika), Justice, David Jr. (DJ) (Mahailoni), Christopher Sr. (Kali) and nieces; Stephanie, Tamika (Johnny), Angela, Cherise (Donald) and Ayesha (Damon); and five great-nephews with one on the way, five great-nieces and many cousins with one special cousin, L. D. Steward. Jerry is preceded in death by her parents; Alexander Johnson, David and Pearline Blakeley and one nephew Malachi Weatherspoon. Jerry, we will miss your gregarious laughter and infectious smile, but most importantly your gracious spirit and giving heart which will live on in our hearts forever! » Have the Talk of a Lifetime™ (/famic/) The funeral home was comfortable and peaceful, every thing was very respectful. We received excellent support. Myers handled all of the many behind-the scenes duties very, very well. They went above and beyond our expectations...” » READ MORE (/about-us/about- us/who-we-are/testimonials/) L |
