The purpose of the Commission is to create and maintain equal rights, benefits, opportunities and responsibilities for all women on the Weber State College campus. The Commission seeks to: 1. Foster a closer relationship and a fuller exchange of ideas among members, 2. Further the equal economic and educational opportunity and advancement for all women and men, 3. Eliminate discrimination on the basis of sex, age, religion, or natal origin in all phases of American society, and to 4. Promote the dissemination of information and provide counsel on opportunities for the effective participation of women in all campus matters. The office of the Commission is available to all women for utilization, and conferences can be arranged with Commission members any afternoon. The Commission is dedicated to assist women toward personal, educational, and professional success. OFFICE OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT Perry T. Larsen, Executive Director The Office of Research and Development provides support to the members of the faculty in locating sources of funds for sponsored projects, proposal preparation and editing, proposal budget reviews, follow-up contacts with sponsoring agencies, and administration help in managing project awards. Specifically, a library of sources of funds resources and periodicals are available for the use of the faculty and staff in the Office of Research and Development. Staff guidance is provided on the use of the resource materials and assistance is available to make contacts with the potential sponsors for members of the faculty. Workshops are provided at frequent intervals for members of the faculty and staff on proposal writing. Proposal editing and proposal processing are important aspects of the office function. Periodic contacts are made, both in person and by telephone, with potential sponsors of the sponsored projects. The Office of Research and Development maintains a current status of funding and project development information. Pamphlets and regulations of many potential sponsors are on file and available for Weber State College faculty and staff members. The Office of Research and Development provides cognizant administrative assistance to members of the faculty for project awards made to the College on their behalf. Project awards are activated by the Office of Research and Development, and they provide liaison assistance between the College and the awarding agency. Fellowship information is provided to students and the Office of Research and Development functions as liaison fo rthe College, students and the government for tax exempt students. The Office of Research and Development has been designated by the College President as the coordinating and clearinghouse office for contacts with our congressmen.
