Show WEBER COUNTY County Commission Weber Center 2380 Washington Blvd. Ogden, Utah 84401 (801) 399-8402 FAX (8011 399-8305 Kerry W. Gibson Commissioner Craig L. Dearden Commissioner Jan M. Zogmaister Commissioner Dear Mayor Butler, September 25, 2012 RECEIVED OCT 2012 As you are aware the county budget year is different from that of the cities. At present the county is in the process of setting the budget for 2013. The tentative budget will be adopted in November with the final being adopted in December. The reason for this letter is to obtain information concerning your continued contracting with the sheriffs office for law enforcement services. We understand you have approved a contract for sheriff services through June 30, 2013. The information we need in order to properly budget is what you anticipate to do beyond that date. Your decision will impact our budget. If you decide to go a different direction we will need to reduce sheriff office personnel and their budget for the last six months of 2013. Our hope is that we could make reductions gradually over the first six months rather than in June. The budget meeting for the sheriffs office is scheduled for October 10th. It would be very helpful if you could provide an answer, in writing, to the contracting question by that date or October 31 at the latest. In order to prepare our 2013 budget if no notice is received we will assume your city will no longer contract and the amount budgeted for the sheriffs office will be reduced by your contract amount. Again, this notification will allow us to prepare our budget with any anticipated changes. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at (801) 399-8588. Thank you for your time on this issue. Dearden, Chair Weber County Commission 93 |
