Show The Pioneer Post Volume XIV Issue 12 Marriott-Slaterville City Newsletter December 2012 1570 West 400 North - Phone 801-627-1919 - www.marriott-sIatervilIe.org Christmas Message by Keith Butler, Mayor Another year is nearly behind us. This year we have celebrated together in this wonderful community. Flundreds of kids from the community participated in the Easter Egg Hunt. The Fourth of July Celebration was one of the best we have ever had. Trunk-of-treat is now so large that we will have to make some changes next year to hold this event. Thanks to all of our volunteers and sponsors of our community events. As we enter the Christmas Season, may we all reflect on the many things we have to be grateful for. Our community has no debt, and still no city property tax levy. Over the year I have seen neighbors helping neighbors in our community, and it gladdens my heart. Our community gardens are among the most beautiful gardens in the county. Everyone can find a place to volunteer in Marriott-Slaterville City. May each of you have a wonderful holiday season this year. I am grateful to live in this city, and grateful to have neighbors and businesses such as you. Community Awards Each year residents have an opportunity to nominate others in the community for our annual awards. This is your chance to recognize someone for going above and beyond as a neighbor, business, contributor, leader, youth, or volunteer. Nominations are now being accepted by the Mayor for the following: The Good Neighbor Award - nominate a neighbor or business that is an exemplary example. Elna Lucas Community Culture/History Award - nominate a person who has contributed to our local community history and culture during the year. H. Orvil Holley Youth Leadership Award - nominate any youth who has shown outstanding leadership. Darrell Mecham Community Service Award - nominate an extraordinary volunteer in the community.
