Spring Clean-up Spring cleaning! Its time to clean-up the house, yard, and barn. Get rid of all that junk! To help you spring clean, a dumpster will be placed at Marriott Park and at Slaterville Park between April 21-22. Please put all garbage inside the dumpster, not on the ground. This is a complimentary service, please be considerate of others using the dumpster. Waste Management requests no tires or hazardous material be dumped. For junk cars, call Bill at the City Office, 801-627- 1919 ext. 205. Play Tennis Days Marriott-Slaterville Tennis Association in conjunction with Harrisville City and Marriott-Slaterville City is sponsoring FREE Play Tennis Days. All children, ages 5-10 (experience or no experience) are invited to play at the Harrisville tennis courts located at 1350 North Highway 89. Dates: Saturday: April 7, 14, 21, and 28. Times: 9:00-10:30 AM Rackets and balls will be furnished. The children must be accompanied by a parent or an adult guardian. Those children who have experience will be separated from those who have not played tennis before. There will be no lessons given. These Play Days are just for the children to have fun playing tennis. Formal tennis lessons will begin the first week in June at the Harrisville tennis courts. Community Gardening Day Volunteer Wednesday, April 25 at 6 PM at the community gardens behind the city office, weather permitting. Contact Sandra Saunders: sndrsut@aol.com. Plan on about one to two hours, if you can stay that amount of time. We will have something for you to eat, so come and enjoy the time outdoors. April Gardening Tips 1. Clean weeds from flower beds and trim perennials. 2. Trim ornamental grasses as short as possible. 3. Prune roses back to 24 inches, unless leafed out, then prune less aggressively. 4. Prune out dead wood and crossing branches from roses and shrubs. 5. Remove excess mulch from around base of perennials and shrubs and work some into the surrounding soil. 6. Fertilize as needed. 166 |
