Show Marriott-Slaterville History March 2012 An interlocal agreement with the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) and Marriott-Slaterville City to provide a litter control and landscaping on state roads within the city was proposed under Resolution 2012-E, UDOT Litter Pickup Agreement. This would allow the city to use inmates to clean litter on state roads. President Illum asked about other issues. Staff said the city meets with UDOT each year to bring up issues. After discussion, Resolution 2012-E was passed unanimously. The coming Fourth of July Freedom Celebration was discussed. An assignment report was reviewed, with council members assigned the same jobs as last year. Various activities were discussed. The Sheriffs Office will be asked again to help serve lunch, as last year. Mr. Smout will work on getting volunteers for games or as fund raisers. Additional coordination will take place at the next meeting. Mayor Butler advised that Sheriff Terry Thompson brought a letter to the city changing the contract deadline from March 31, 2012, to August 31,2012. The city proposes to extend the contract starting July 1, 2012 through 2013. The city now pays $190,000.00 and the extension increase is to $195,000.00. Mayor Butler said the Strike Force entered a property on Pioneer Road on a stolen property warrant, and found many stolen items. The Intermountain McKay-Dee Hospital Center Senior Health Connection Newsletter for March 2012, gave good information on Chronic Kidney Disease, which affects approximately 1 in 9 people. March is National Kidney Month. We are advised to be aware of conditions which may bring on kidney disease. The earlier you know you have it, the better. March screenings, seminars and activities were also announced. Rebecca Nichols, McKay-Dee representative also had flyers for an educational nine week series for Caregivers offered by Weber Human Services, starting on 3/23/12, "I'm doing this, but I hate it!", and running through 5/18/12, "Getting over the Caregiver Guilt." Additional pertinent subjects are dealt with each week. Bits and Pieces Chezney Flitton, daughter of Brad and Brooke Flitton, was bom March 6, 2012. Georgia Ann Rice, daughter of Jared and Carrie Rice, was born March 14, 2012. Alvin Miles Phillips died on March 4, 2012, at the age of 93. A Standard Examiner story on March 12, 2012, said that Brandon Sloper, 25, of Marriott-Slaterville, was charged with one-count of kidnapping and one count of aggravated assault. He is accused of beating Ashlee Bambrough of South Ogden, and throwing her out of a moving truck. He has pled not-guilty. Brian Michael Davidson, 40, was anested tor 19 felonies involving car thefts. State authorities recovered $100,000 in stolen goods, according to a Standard Examiner story on March 15, 2012. 133 |
