Spring Clean-up Spring cleaning! Its time to clean-up the house, yard, and barn. Get rid of all that junk! To help you spring clean, a dumpster will be placed at Marriott Park and at Slaterville Park between April 21-22. Please put all garbage inside the dumpster, not on the ground. This is a complimentary service, please be considerate of others using the dumpster. Waste Management requests no tires or hazardous material be dumped. For junk cars, call Bill at the City Office, 801-627-1919 ext. 205. Cemetery District - Correction The cemetery district sponsors and a few residents opposed to a tax increase are seeking a mediated solution. The parties propose a new cemetery plan funding by fees rather than property tax. The protest period for the proposed cemetery district election runs until March 15, 2012. No location for a cemetery has yet been selected. Holiday Garbage Collection Waste Management will not pick-up garbage when Monday falls on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, and Christmas. When garbage day falls on one of these holidays collection will be made the following day on Tuesday. Our Community Gardens Need Some Help Volunteers are needed to clean-up, trim perennials, rake and dig to prepare the gardens for spring. I am still seeking interested residents to e-mailed me to let me know if they can help a few hours or more this year. Please let me know even if you can just volunteer a few hours by emailing Sandra Saunders at sndrsut@aol.com. I can notify you when we are having a gardening day or how you can help. Weather permitting, we may have one in March. For home gardeners who need more help, we will have flyers available at the city on vegetable gardens, shrubs, turfgrass, watering, and more. There is a great pruning class to be held at the Ogden Botanical on Saturday, March 31 from 9:00-12:00. It is free. March is a wonderful time for gardening projects as well as starting seeds indoors for vegetable gardens. Visit: marriott-slaterville.org |
