Attendance at the golf tournament and the 5K was overwhelming. As always, the food was excellent. Our community parade seems to get better each year. We enjoyed a lots of games and events that were fun for everyone. Thanks for your participation in our community events. This city has completed all of its road projects for the year. Overall, our community has quality maintained roads. Remember, pot holes are inevitable on any road, and we are constantly repairing them. If you found a pothole that you think has been overlooked, please call the city office at 801-627-1919. Paint striping for certain roads will occur this fall. The city received a Weber County R.A.M.P. grant to extend the river trail system from West Haven on I-15 to 1900 West in Marriott-Slaterville. This project is being done in conjunction with West Haven City. Two bridges have already been installed, one on 17th Street and the other at 1-15. The asphalt trail will be finished this summer for our trail enthusiasts. Many residents from all over the county have thanked our community for its dedication to trails and improvement of the river corridor. Storm Water In Weber County, our waterways and storm drains flow directly to the local streams and rivers with no treatment. Most of the streams and both rivers in the county flow through Marriott-Slaterville. Storm water pollution is a serious problem. We all want to have clean water in our community. Some of the most common forms of contamination that have occurred in our community result from oil and fuel spills, vehicle fluid spills, construction debris, landscape debris, chemicals, solvents, pesticides, herbicides, and paint products. These things do not belong in our water that we use for irrigation and recreation. There are a few simple things you can do to help keep our water clean: Never use the gutter or storm drain to dispose of hazardous waste of any kind. Store toxic products indoors, in a secure shed, or in a storage cabinet. Dispose of household of hazardous material for free at the Weber County Solid Waste Facility. Call 801-399-8803 for more information. Do not wash tools and equipment in the street. Wash on grass or areas where the wash water cannot reach the storm drain. Maintain vehicles so that they do not leak fluids. Clean up spills using kitty litter or absorbent material without washing into any drain. Recycle oils at an approved facility.
