Show Marriott-Slaterville Monthly History May 2012 In the "Why do people act this way?" category, the May 2012 issue of The Pioneer Post added a local story. The first project in road maintenance this spring was the replacement of two culverts on 2200 West between Pioneer Road and the Slaterville Park. While the old culverts were removed and the new ones placed and cement dried and cured, the road had to be closed. A truck drove around the road closed signs, onto a resident's private front lawn, and through the wet cement. Deep ruts were sunk in the wet cement which had to be fixed. This delayed the road opening and involved additional expense. A $50 reward for information leading to the conviction of the person who drove the truck was offered. Respect Road Closed Signs! At the May 17, 2012, City Council Meeting, business licenses were approved tor Streb's Yard Care, 973 East 1200 West, yard care, and Kick Ass Power Sports, 785 West 12th Street, small engine repair. The proposal from Holbrook Asphalt to use HA5 road product at Spencer Farms and Mill Creek subdivisions was discussed. Trent Meyerhoffer has seen this material on a project in St. George which was used ten years ago, and it has held up very well. The allotment of funds for the Holbrook Asphalt bid of $28,473.06 was accepted and approved by a three to one vote by the council. Several budget matters were discussed by the City Council, and public hearings on final budgets on June 21, 2012, were set: Tentative budget for FY 2012-13 Pioneer Special District. This included revenue and expenditures of about $40,000, for irrigation of the three subdivisions within the District. Revenue comes from users of the system. The line-by-line proposed amended budget for FY 2011-12. The amended amount is about $1,096,927. The tentative FY 2012-13 in the amount of about $1,611,502 projected revenue and expenditure. All proposals were adopted unanimously. Resolution 2012-H, which increases park fees for non-residents was discussed and approved. Fee tor public parks operated by the city will increase from $25.00 per block for non-residents to $50.00 per block. Non-resident, non-profit organizations will be charged $25.00 per block. A charge of $100 field fee, per team, per season, for team sports was proposed. The resolution was adopted with a unanimous vote. Ordinance 2012-03, vacating Combe Subdivision on 1700 South as part of a boundary adjustment was discussed and approved by the council. A survey error on the original Combe Subdivision was made, and the original subdivision will be vacated so the amended subdivision can correct the survey error. Mr. Combe has had a new Mylar plan printed showing the correct lot lines for the 1st Amendment to the Combe Subdivision. Upon completion of the process the Recorder's Office records can be updated to show the correction. The Arbor Day Foundation recently congratulated the City on being named a Tree City USA community and for achieving a Growth Award for 2011. This year the Arbor Day program is to recognize the $200,000 CDBG grant our community recently received for the completion of Heritage Park. The City ranked at the top of all applicants for projects in Weber, Davis, and Tooele Counties. A special public hearing was held before the City council on May 31, 2012, at 6:30 p.m., which was required to receive the money. At the May 31, 2012, City Council Meeting, the second public hearing on the Community Development Block Grant for the 2012 Grant Year was held. Trent Meyerhoffer explained the grant for a project site on 1200 West and 700 South to complete public improvements in the Quail Meadows Subdivision/Heritage Park Project.
