A dumpster will be located at Marriott Park and at Slaterville Park. Please put all garbage completely inside the dumpster, not on the ground. This is a complimentary service, please be considerate of others using the dumpster. Waste Management requests no tires or hazardous materials. Public Hearing - Business License Fees As a result of the increased sheriff contract, a public hearing will be held at the City Building 1570 W 400 N, on October 18, 2012, at 6:30 PM to present the study with the new business license fees and take public comment. TRUNK-OR-TREAT Trunk-or-Treat is at Slaterville Park (250 N 2250W) on Wednesday, October 31. Set-up starts at 5:00 PM, and treats start 6:00 PM sharp. Come circle the wagons around the haunted grounds. Feast on hot dogs, donuts, and hot chocolate by donation. Bring your bag of candy if you want to participate. There will be candy galore and prizes. Prizes for carved pumpkin, best costume, best animal costume, and best decorated car. Questions, call DeAnn at 801-731-5129. In case of inclement weather an alternate location may be posted. SLEEPY MILL CREEK HOLLOW Sleepy Millcreek Hollow will be open October 23 to 31 (except Sunday and Monday) for the 2012 season. This year the festival will be held at Green Barn Gardens, just west of 2250 West and 1/2 mile south of Exit 346 off 1-15 in Marriott-Slaterville City. The address is 195 South 2250 West, Marriott-Slaterville just south of Slaterville Park. The festival features displays on how to haunt your castle, the "Trail of Terror', great food, storytellers, and family fun. Experience this year's Sleepy Millcreek Hollow for $5 per person. Hours: 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. This festival is not affiliated with the city. October Gardening Tips October is a great month to prepare your gardens for winter. Here are some things to do this fall, after frost. 1. Cut perennials, except grasses, Lavender and roses. 2. Pull spent annuals. 3. Weed and clean up flower beds and garden areas. 4. Apply new mulch now or in early spring. 5. Apply pre-emergent to edges and perennials beds. 6. Till garden, cut lawn short, compost and fall fertilize. The city will need help for a final garden clean-up in October after the frost. Free firewood day will be Saturday, November 10, 2012, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM at 1755 West 1350 South. You can help yourself to wood, at your own risk, from the trees removed during construction of the new trail. You must provide your own equipment, chain saws, workers, vehicles, and anything else you need. Opening of the new river trail segment on Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at 4:00 PM at the new trail bridge by 1-15 over the Weber River. Community Preparedness Fair Weber County is sponsoring a Community Preparedness Fair on Saturday, October 27, 2012 from 9:00 am to Noon at Farr West Elementary School. This fair will help you prepare for a disaster. Come learn from workshops and visit vendors. West Davis Corridor UDOT continues to study both Alternatives A and B as part of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (Draft EIS). Currently, UDOT is drafting chapters of the Draft EIS document and conducting a detailed analysis on impacts such as noise, water quality, and air quality. The result of this in-depth analysis will be reflected in the Draft EIS. A final decision is not expected until 2013.
