Description	This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins.

OCR Text	Show Wednesday, Jan. 11. This A.M. spent some time down to Weber Beannetics Parlor had manicure shampoo and Marcelle. At 1 P.M. Mrs Flyare gave a nice luncheon for me & invited Dr also. Those present were Polly Jones, Jenetta Morrell, Pearl Foulger, Olive Christensen Pearl Barns, Martha Cooley, Rosella Larkins, Ida Treeseder. All friends for many years. This evening Dr & Mrs J.R. Morrell entertained at dinner for us. Dr & Mrs Thatcher, Dr & Mrs L.R. Pugmire, Mr & Mrs. Lyman Hyde, Mr & Mrs. Gunnell. Thursday, Jan. 12. It has seemed an age since I have been looking forward to this trip to Panama. The final day has come and we are off. Took the Union Pacific train at 945 A.M. for San Francisco. Every one happy. Cleone went to the depot with us. Am so excited I bought Valentines and sent to all the small grandchildren thinking it came this month. Had a good rest on the train. Had a letter from Lucile and one from Janath. Friday, Jan. 13. Had a fairly restful night. Dr took a lower birth for each of us. The train ride has been quiet restful and we reached San Francisco on time. Taylor and Mary met us. we spent the day in the City did some shopping at Penneys also at the Emporium. After a nice lunch we went to Marys home at Palo Alto. Her baby Richard T. is a beautiful child and a very good child. Mary is an ideal little mother and enjoys him very much. Had a fine day. Saturday, Jan. 14. Rested well Avon June & family came from Oakdale this morning Mary has a a lovly home and a very good maid who is an excelent cook. We have spent the day visiting and had a wonderful chicken dinner this evening June and the children went home. Charles is a very fine boy is now a Scout also president of the Deacons Chorum in Modesto Ward. Carlin too has improved so much and Que is still a little roust about. He and David have enjoyed the day togather. So happy to see the girls & their families so happy & well taken care off. Lunch at Allied Arts.
