Description	This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins.

OCR Text	Show Monday, Feb. 20. On board S.S. San Antonio. Started through Panama Canal at 1130 last nite and around at Pacific end or Balboa just sunrise or 645 and the got up to go though last two locks. Beautiful morning as we passed Balboah and Panama. We did not stop on Pacific sde. Quiet restive day on board. Sun come up out of Pacific this morning and sank into Pacific this evening. Rather interesting Crowd on board. At our table. One Englishman One Frenchman. One Spainiard. One German. Checoslovock & native & chica all speak a little English except spanyard. Dentist. Electrician Auto mechanic, Merchant, Sea very smooth. Sunbath on deck. Sea tub bath. Good food. Nice bath feel fine. Tuesday, Feb. 21. On board S.S. San Antonio. Up early saw sun rise beautiful. Also saw sun set beautiful. Quiet day 2 hours sleep after lunch. Read talk with Spaniard. Jew and his wife get on mothers nerves a little I had nice Salt water bath and sun bath on deck. Weather grand ocean very quiet boat very great and steady. Wednesday, Feb. 22. Corinto Nicaragua. Arrivd off this part at 9 am and could not come in until 4 pm because of low tide. Was 630 before we docked. We visite someletter ate dinner on boat and then went up town to see what it looked like. A small dirty little dump. Several drunken sailors (white) on the streets. Indian women selling hats etc. Tough appearing place. We return to ship and retire early. Washington birthday and we have U.S. flag on our table. Thursday, Feb. 23. Off La Libertad El Salvador. Around here about 5p.m. Ship unable to go into small dock. Liters come out to take in Cayr of Cast iron pipe and other stuff. Still unloading at 10 P.M. We shall not get out until hyh tide tomorrow morning. Left Cannts this morning at 530 am. Pleasant ride up the Coast German and Spainiard get off here. We take on other passengers tomorrow. Nothing special today. Pass by many old extinct volcanoes.
