Tuesday, Sept. 12. Rained last night. A grand morning. I completed reading a short history of Palmyra and Beginning of Mormonism by Willard Bean who spent many years on the Smith Farm where we had the pleasure of meeting him and staying over night in the bedroom of the Prophet Joseph where the angel Maroni appeared to him. This afternoon I gave a talk of one and a half hr. on Panama and Guetamala to the 18th Ward Relief Society. Practiced typing. This evening Dr and I read until eleven. Shall write very little of war news. They seem to be fighting intensely. Wednesday, Sept. 13. A beautiful morning. Radio broadcast sayes France & England are doing damage on the Western Front. Of course many lives are being taken as Germany is boming towns & cities. Have spent the day cleaning closets to see what was taken by the fellow who broke in a week or two ago. As I keep missing different articles. Had a letter from Avon in which she says they are going to make some money on their 10,000 lambs now ready for market. June is in Oregon buying more lambs. Thursday, Sept. 14. Rupert cleaned through downstairs. I put up plum jelly. Dr not so buisy. Had a letter from Lucile my sister. We get very little war news over the Radio. Friday, Sept. 15. I have been checking up on what was taken by the theif who came in found he took a new leather jacket Junior had given his father am wondering what else? I went down to Pioneer Hall to have electric stove put in. it was a gift from Maud P. Hundley. Bottled some peaches. Had a card from Junior who is in Cal. also one from Oertel in Logan Ohio, Oscar is better she writes.
