German local attacks south of Saarlouis and in the region east of the Saar river wwere repulsed, the French war office announced tonight, as official sources reported a steady flow of Nazi reinforcements moving up to the Siegfried line. BERLIN, Oct. 2 The German naval high command today announced the Danish steamer Vandia was sunk by a German submarine Sept. 30. Apparently there was loss of life, for the communique described the rescue of survivors. The high command said the Danish steamer tried to ram the submarine. |
