WITH THE FINNISH ARMY ON THE SALLA FRONT, Dec. 26 Official Finnish sources said tonight that the Finnish army in the Salla sector had thrown Russian forces back almost 53 miles in the last three days of fighting. LONDON, Dec. 27 The air ministry announced tonight that British coastal aircraft had disabled a German partol vessel with a direct bomb hit, and had put three German Dornier planes out of action. The activity took place in the North Sea. It was described by the air ministry as a series of minor encounters between K.A.F. and enemy air and surface craft. WITH FINNISH ARMIES, on the Salla front, Dec. 27 Finnish military officials announced today that munitions of German origin had been captured when Russian forces were thrown back toward the Soviet frontier at the Arctic Circle. STOCKHOLM, Dec. 27 Finish troops were reported in unconfirmed press dispatches tonight to have been halted by Russian forces near Suunujaervi lake on Russian territory after a strong counter attack in the Lieksa sector of the southeastern front. GENEVA, Dec. 27 Colombia, Uruguay, the Deminican republic and Liberia notified the League of Nations today of their intention to help Finland with all means in their power.
