Show Giants and Midgets Meet; Brute Force and Moral Courage No spectacle more absurd and abhorrent has been witnessed by the world for several centuries than Russia and Germany are staging today. As brutal as a battle between a bear and a chipmunk, as shameless as a giant crushing a childs toes under hobnailed brogans, as inhuman as a cannibal mother devouring her offspring, gigantic Russia towers over little Finland with threats of war and extinction. Russia, with a population of 148,000,000, raves and rants and arouses the fury of an armed force of 8,000,000 men, pretending that Finland has threatened an attack. Finland, with a population of 3,600,000 and an army of 300,000 militiamen, refuses to flinch and beg for mercy, which makes the soviet leaders still more furious. Russia, with an area of more than 8,200,000 squares miles, embracing most of Europe and all northern Asia, stretching from the inlets of the Atlantic to those of the Pacific, rattles the rusty Sabers of sovietism and shrieks at little Finland with less than 135,000 square miles of half frozen soil, ice bound lakes and hard worked farming land. Russia, twice the size of the whole United States of America; Finland, half the size of Texas and smaller than two other states of the union; Russia with a coast line extending almost half way around the earth, with harbors on the arms of three oceans demanding additional territory from Finlands meager shore in the Arctic zone. The grotesque brutality of the soviet bear is in keeping with the conduct of the nazi Frankenstein now mobilizing troops on the borders of the smallest, most pacific and notedly neutral countries in Europe Switzerland, Belgium and Holland. Poe described bullies who impose on weakness and rob the helpless: They are neither man nor woman they are neither brute nor human they are ghouls! CZECHS SLAIN IN PRAGUE ROW BERLIN, Nov. 17. A Prague dispatch to D. N. B.; official German news agency, today said that nine persons had been shot to death and a large number arrested in connection with student disturbances there. The dispatch said that Prague academies and universities had been ordered closed for three years. D. N. In Prague, Czech high schools and the Karlovy university technical institute were occupied by German schutzstaffel (SS) detachments and about 1,200 students, boys and girls, were hauled away in buses.
