This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show Friday, August 4. We are alone for the first day in three weeks. I attended a Tea given by Mrs White in Salt Lake City for Emma Ray McKay who is to be married soon. I went down with Mr & Mrs Wm Reeder. It was very nice about 7 of Acacia Club members were there. Friday, Aug. 3. Aunt Mary (Amasas) wife ) went to Morgan today with her daughter Myrtle Richards whos husband seems much better. Mrs Jensen did my cleaning for the week sure seems good to have some one come in once a week for that I have done it so many years. Dr has wanted me to have some one so it has been my own fault. Saturday, Aug. 5. Fred Rich Drs brother came up from Salt Lake City to go to Bear Lake to the Rich Reunion with us. it will be today & tomorrow. We had a good dinner and left for the Lake at 3 P.M. Fred and Elna Jessies daughter went with us also her twin sister whom we called for in Logan. Cleones children & Carlin Smart went up with Ralph Hardy Myrene drove up with Sharlene, Joe & Rich. A lovly drive, quite warm though. We found many of the Riches there at Fishaven called on Mrs J. Watson. Sunday, Aug. 6. Last night around a large camp fire on the shore were gathered about 150 decendants of C.C. Rich a programme was given part of which was no honor to him as Ben L told some racy jokes. The music was nice. Dr & I had a cottege at Fishaven poor accomidations. Cleones family are at Ideal Beech. Myrene here. A very nice Programme was given at 10A.M. in the dance hall followed by a fine chicken dinner for all in the grove over 200 present. Sanford Rich was chairman. We arrived home at six P.M. |
