HELSINKI, Dec. 25 Capture of quantities of Soviet arms, 50 Russian prisoners and the disabling of two Red army tanks were reported by Finland today in a communique describing bitter fighting on the Karelian isthmus front. Russian attacks supported by planes, tanks and artillery were repulsed on that front where the Russian drive started Nov. 30, the communique said. Eleven Soviet planes were said to have been shot down with only small losses to Finlands air force. HUNDREDS DIE IN TURK QUAKE ANKARA, Dec. 27 Hundreds were reported killed and whole villages destroyed in an earthquake which shook northern Anatolia early today. Four shocks were felt in Ankara between two a. m. and five a. m. today (between five p. m. and eight p. m. MST Tuesday). Accurate information of the damage caused was not immediately available because communications were disruptedd. Officials by late afternoon said, however, that reports indicated a major catastrophe. The quakes center apparently was aloijg the Black sea coast of Turkey in Asia. Heavy damage was reported at Ordu, Samsun, Tokat, Amasia, Sivas and Yozgad. GENEVA, Dec. 27 Scientists of the Neuchatel observatory announced today their seismograph recorded a terrific earthquake which probably centered near the border of European and Asiatic Russia. They said it was registered at one two a. m. (five two p. m. Tuesday, M. S. T.) and was the most violent in 20 years. SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador, Dec. 27 A fairly heavy earthquake shook San Salvador at five fifty five a. m. today (four fifty five a. m., M. S. T.), frightening the inhabitants but causing no Wed.
