Show Marriott-Slaterville History January 2012 A five year plan/common concerns were: 1. High water table. Proposed to follow Plain City/West Weber/Warren Model for burial with sealed vaults. 2. Prefer 10+ acres for Cemetery, developing 1 acre at a time, with gated entry. 3. GIS layout of Cemetery. 4. Plots proposed to be sold at $700.00 for residents/$1,000.00 for non-residents. It can be set up with a petition or election. The council preferred an election so residents could vote in private. Property owners may file a protest within the next 60 days. If adequate protests are filed, the election can be barred. Public comments were requested. Steve Mecham, Sherry Morris, and Gerald Bischoff spoke in favor of the cemetery, expressing their desire to be buried in the community where they live. Shay Holley, Carl Slater, Erin Holley, Elna Lucas, Orvil Holley, Roger Shuman, and Jack Lucas opposed the cemetery, with concern for the cost involved, the ground water table, being unfair to business property owners who can't vote on it, the availability of other public and private cemeteries, and that many already have burial arrangements. The public hearing was closed, and the public meeting re-opened. The council approved a motion to table action on a cemetery election until the next meeting. The Council discussed the request by Travis Burt to extend home occupations to certain garage areas. The Planning Commission recommend approval of Ordinance 2012-01, amending Chapter 13.26, extending home occupations to certain garage areas. Mr. Moms said what Mr. Burt does may be considered a hobby or craft. He has received no complaints from neighbors. It would be in his attached garage, would still have the required two vehicle parking spaces, and he does not have any visiting clientele. Ordinance 2012-01, as prepared by staff was approved unanimously. Ordnance 2012-02, amending the street numbering and naming policy, was discussed. Staff said this would establish protocol tor street numbering and naming. The Ordinance was approved on a vote of 3 to 1, with Kim Slater voting nay. The matter of designating all or part of 1200 West as Veterans Way was reconsidered. The origin of the name of Tomlinson Road is unclear. Councilman Delbert Hodson moved that this item be tabled until the next meeting. The motion carried unanimously. Mr. Morris and Mayor Butler reported that the city held a meeting for flood victims, and discussed the easement programs offered by the USDA and NRCS. They also talked about FEM A and that Weber County hopes to get the debris cleaned from the river. Mr. Hodson reported that the bridge warning sign on Mill Creek and 1200 West is down. A Membership Certificate from the Utah Association of Special Districts, (UASD) officially acknowledged that the Pioneer Special Service District had been admitted into membership, and is entitled to all the privileges thereof for the year ending December 31, 2012.
