Show Marriott-Slaterville Monthly History December 2012 Mayor Keith Butler's Christmas Message was featured in the December 2012 issue of The Pioneer Post, as he wished all of us a wonderful holiday season. He reflected on some of the good things in our city: no community debt, no city property tax, neighbors helping neighbors, good businesses, our community gardens, and all of the great volunteers. Activities such as the Easter Egg Hunt, the Fourth of July Celebration, Breakfast with Santa, and Trunk-or-treat have brought fun to the community. Trunk-or-Treat has become so large it will be necessary to make some changes next year for this event. Always a fun time, Breakfast with Santa was held on December 8, 2012 from 9:00 -11:00 a.m., for a slightly smaller group, which numbered about 60 this year. On the breakfast menu was cereal, pancakes.ham, eggs, donuts, apple and orange juice and hot chocolate. Santa Claus visited and gave the children a treat. Shauna Meyerhoffer was again in charge of the event. Helpers (elves?) included DeAnn Hufstetler, JoAnn Louth, Stacee Meyerhoffer, Kent Meyerhoffer, and Glen Meyerhoffer. At the December 20, 2012, City Council Meeting, the 2013 meeting schedule was approved. Business licenses were issued to: Jones Towing, LLC, 1726 West 1350 South, a towing business. All accounts and departments are within the budget. General cash revenue was near to the prior year. Restricted cash income was up significantly. The unassigned fund balance available for general use is $165,804, up $18,000. The Pioneer Special Service District had increased expenses for major projects of $27,534. The unreserved funds is $22,081, $18,000 less than in 2012. The total district revenues was $45,071. The Independent Auditor reviewed the City Comparative Analysis for cities under 15,000 population from June 30, 2011. He reported the city is in very good condition, especially compared to other communities. The city has business friendly policies that can be seen in the analysis. He appreciated the cooperation of the administrative during the audit. The motion to accept the audit report passed.
