Show Thursday, Jan. 19. San Pedro Harbor Cal. We arrived here at twelve oclock last night. Neither Dr or I heard the boat dock. We had a perfect rest all night and feel fine this A.M. At ten A.M. Dr & Mrs Royal Hendricks of Ventura (Drs nephew) found our quarters we were very happy to see them. Next came Ezra & Annie who found us after some hunting. The board remains here until midnight so we have spent a very pleasant day in Los Angeles. Called at our sister Nanies found her fairly well but Dr feels he may not see her again. Dr Ezra took us all out to lunch. Then we had dinner with Dr & Mrs E.S. Budge who later brought us back to the board. A fine day. Friday, Jan. 20. One week yesterday since we left home and a very enjoyable week. We are very keen about this boat and slept thro the night not hearing it leave the dock at 12 last night. Havent been sick in the least and today has been one of real rest. Ocean smooth and every thing comfortable. Enjoy the meals very much. Trying to eat less as I am sure I have added several lbs the past week. Dr says he is thoroughly enjoying every minute it is so quiet & peaceful. We have read most all day. Each had a short sleep this afternoon. Walked deck after dinner and retire early. Gladys Rich sailed for Honolulu. Hawaii. Saturday, Jan. 21. Trondanger off lower Cal. Slight rain. Very steady. A very restful night. Dr went down for breakfast and I snoozed until ten thirty. All meals are so well prepared and such a fine variety of food that it is difficult to not over eat so I am doing without breakfast. After reading an hour then taking a tub bath I felt in fine shape for lunch and enjoyed it very much. There are four other women in our Co. all smoke and seem to enjoy it so much they are at it most of the time. Mrs Thompsons birthday so the Captain & Cook give her a party to which all are invited. A delicious birthday cake & coffee was served. Dr & I read late. Sunday, Jan. 22. Have never known Dr to be so perfictly relaxed and enjoying every minute. We sleep soundly and feel so rested in the morning. Dr had a fine breakfast I read in bed until eleven A.M. For lunch we had our choice of four kinds of cheese for varieties of bread, olives pickles, appatizers of different kinds after which delicious cube stake, peas potatoes, beg salad tea, coffee, milk etc. Fresh fruit for desert. Captain Peterson sits at the head of our table and is very entertaining. At another table sits six young men who are going to Costa Reca to put in a pipeline. They are having a time but inclined to drink to much. At a table sits a fine looking Spanish women who dresses very well & seems quite an aristocrat. Weather grand warmer and a number have been in the swimming pool. Most passengers are darning spring cloths. Ocean very quiet. Delightful. |
