Show Sunday, March 12. S.S. San Mateo off Lower California. Cold windy day. little of interest Read nearly all day. Matthew to Mark enjoyed them. All feeling fine. Mira wrote letters. I went down through engine room of ship. Interesting 6000 horse power 5 Bailus all burners 16 inch dring shobb burn engines to perpeller. This boat carries 7500 tons of freight, Captain Kereveur. Monday, March 13. S.S. San Mateo. Cold windy day. little of interest on the boat. Got up late. Walked deck, after lunch went to bed and read most of afternoon. Sea rather rough, but we are not sick. Read, retire early. We are off Santeego Cal. Shall arrive in Los Angeles early in morning. Tuesday, March 14. Los Angeles. Arrived here about 7 a.m. Dr Ezra my brother and his wife met us at the Board and took us up to Los Angeles to their Apartment. Rode around called to see Nanie. Visited spend evening at E.A. Budges and staid there all night nice visit with them. Wednesday, March 15. Los Angeles Cal. Ezra came over after us after breakfast. We got Nanie and rode out through Beverly Hills and Santa Monica and ate lunch at WestWood Inn. Go to show Broadcasting in early eveng and later Ezra & I go out to Sodale and Sirloin Club to dinner given by Roland Woolley my nephew in honor of Nelson McCarthy who married Minerva Woolley. Nice time. Stay all nite with Ezra & Annie. |
