Show Saturday, Dec. 2. After doing Sat. work I prepared hot lunch after which I went down town with Elizabeth Thomas and we shopped at Bazar & other places. I bought two warm quilts for gifts. Elizabeth came home with me & had dinner & spent the evening. By the Associated Press HELSINKI Finnish troops report heavy losses inflicted on advancing Russians in north but withdraw in south on Karelian isthmus to Mannerheim line for firm stand; say Russian forces driven out of entire Petsamo district in Arctic. ROME Uniformed fascist demonstrators shout antisoviet slogans at Russian embassy, cheer before Finnish legation. LONDON Moscow broadcast announces mutual assistance pact between soviet Russia and Democratic Finnish republic government sponsored by soviets at Terijoki; Britain anounces war losses of just 4 per cent of her total naval tonnage. STOCKHOLM Sweden strengthens preparedness measures; government official says will strive to maintain her neutrality. PARIS France decrees gradual release of fathers to reduce armed forces, aid countrys internal economy. WASHINGTON Roosevelt places Russia under administrations moral embargo against nations which bomb civilians. |
