Description	This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins.

OCR Text	Show ABEL G. RICH DIES, AGE 83 1939 BRIGHAM CITY, Dec. 14 Abel G. Rich, 83, soil of the late Apostle Charles C. and Harriett Sargent Rich, died late Wednesday at his home in Brigham City. Born in San Bernardino, Calif., in 1857, he spent the greater part of his life in Paris, Idaho, where he operated a flour mill. He moved to Brigham City about 20 years ago and purchased an orchard. He was married in 1877 to Miss Mary Innes at Paris. She died about four years ago. He had served an L.D.S. mission in England. Surviving are four sons and a daughter: Abel S. Coulsin, Ivan and Scott Rich and Mrs. Maggie Duffin; numerous grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Fred C. Rich and Mrs. Drucilia Streeper, Salt Lake City; Drs. Ezra C. and Edward I. Rich of Ogden; Wilford and Walter Rich of Paris, Idaho; Alvin O. Rich of McGrath, Canada, and Joel Rich of Sacramento, Calif. His son, Abel S. Rich is a former president of the L.D.S. eastern Canadian mission and present teacher of the L.D.S. seminary in Brigham City. Services will be conducted in Brigham City Sunday at two p.m. Friday, Dec. 15. A letter from Lucile & I wrote her Big German ship bottled up at Montavedo Uruguray. Have done little today. Did not sleep well so stayed in bed until 10 A.M. I went to Salt Lake City with Cleone. She went to a luncheon. I shopped for a couple of hours at A.C.M.I. & Deseret Book Store.
