Mercury Hits 105 to Break Record Here July 14 1939 Ogden is the nations hot spot. So said Arie Van De Graaff, official U. S. weather observer here, as he pointed out that this city has gone. Salt Lake three degrees better to record 105 degrees in the shade, Thursday, whereas the capital of Utah only boasted of 102 degrees. The 105 degree mark was the hottest ever recorded in Ogdens history, bragged Mr. Van De Graaff, who pointed out that records have been accurately kept for 70 years. In all those years the hottest the mercury ever said with exception of Thursdays record temperature of 105 was 104 degrees. The 104 mark was hit twice in 1931 on July 6 and July 24 and once before that in 1901, but it looks as if someone really turned on the heat here. Minimum early today was 60 degrees, compared with Mondays minimum of 70 degree so we really did get a brief respite during the night. But today well, its another scorcher.
