Show Summary Of War Progress By Associated Press BERLIN Hitler summons reichstag for Friday noon to hear new declaration of policy; expected to put war or peace issue up to Britain. RIGA Russian Latvian pact concluded, giving Russia more air and naval bases on Baltic. PARIS Premier Daladier declares France will fight until victory in war for durable peace with security for all nations. ROME Italy announces that under present circumstances she will refrain from peace initiatives. LONDON Peace issue occupies parliament; Foreign Secretary Lord Halifax says government will examine peace proposals with care and measure them against principles for which we have taken up arms. The Jrench cabinet announced a decision to tighten the blockade of Germany to keep credits as well as foodstuffs from reaching German territory. MOSCOW Russia may make proposals to Afghanistan to push influence to middle east; continues negotiations covering Baltic and near east. STOCKHOLM German navy seizes five Swedish freighters, one bound for the United States. WASHINGTON Senator Connally (D), Texas, urges repeal of arms embargo, Senator Vandenberg (R), Michigan, supports it in continuation of senate neutrality debate. |
