Show Pioneer Road in front of Vern Butler's house was damaged by the spring flooding, and will be fixed. Mr. VanLeeuwen said there is a quite large drop-off on 700 South 2000 West, and wants the city to put some gravel in it. In November 2011, Mr. Slater said Bona Vista chipped the asphalt in front of his house when they were making a repair and would like it filled.nov West Davis Corridor A meeting with UDOT was held at the city office on February 2, 2011, to discuss the three alternatives UDOT proposes for the West Davis Corridor. UDOT has requested a position letter. Alternative C is not acceptable to the city leadership as it potentially may strain local roads and bisect the community. The city's order of preference is Alternative A, B and C. Different stakeholders have pros and cons for 5100 West. Some prefer it because it is the boundary between several communities who do not want to be bisected. WACOG prefers 5100 West. Some like 4700 West as it is already a state road. The WFRC long range plan is still in place for the area north of 4000 South and is different from the WDC environmental study. The City Council is concerned as they want to be sure they accurately represent the needs of their citizens. Mayor Butler said plans have already changed since the meeting with UDOT and 4700 West is on the agenda to be widened. Staff was directed to prepare the position letter to DEIS as discussed, with 4700 West as primary, 5100 West as secondary, and Alternative C. eliminated entirely. Mr. VanLeeuwen attended the March West Legacy meeting. UDOT still wants to have all traffic go onto 12*1 Street. He spent considerable time explaining how that would affect the city adversely. UDOT said they would look at it again. In May, UDOT reviewed comments received during the February-March comment period. Results will be published in its website. We can stay informed on the study through the website and email updates. Visit: www.udot.utah.gov/westdavis, or email westdavis@utah.gov, or phone 877-298-1991. Randy Jeffries and Andy Neff presented information to update the Council about new alternatives in the West Davis Corridor, in September 2011. UDOT, in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is preparing an Environmental Impact Statement for the potential corridor in western Davis and Weber Counties. Following the February 2011 public open houses and comments period, the West Davis Corridor Study Team evaluated the comments and feedback from all entities. No final decisions have been made. The refined alternatives are one more step in the process and alignments can still change. A final alternative will not be selected until the end of the study in 2013. At this time, the alternative is to end at 4000 South, and 4700 West will be widened to a 5 lane road. This is a long range plan for approximately the years 2030-2040. The alternatives do not propose construction in or extend into Marriott-Slaterville City. Councilman Scott VanLeeuwen said he is in favor of the alternative outlined at the meeting, because the traffic will not be brought to 12*» Street to be handled at the end of the corridor. Awards November is the month for thanks, particularly as we celebrate Thanksgiving Day. We can give thanks to our neighbors with the city awards program. In the November issue of The Pioneer Post, residents were reminded of their opportunity to nominate others in the community for the annual awards. The awards are: 15 |
