Show April 9, 2011 Shurtliff LaRee Shurtliff Jessop Elmer Shurtliff will celebrate her 95th birthday. Family and friends may attend an open house hosted by her family from 4 to 6 p.m. April 9 at the ^^^^^^^ Marriott-Slaterville Church BuHding, 250 N. 1500 West. She was born April 9, 1916, to Dowaye N. and Pearl Amelia James Jessop in Wilson Lane. She married George W Elmer Nov. 2,1938, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple. They served in the Alabama Birmingham LDS Mission. He died Jan. 14, 1985. She later served in the Arizona Temple LDS Mission. On Oct. 12, 1991, she married Russell A. Shurtliff. They served a stake mission together. He died Oct. 15,1999. She served as an ordinance worker in the Ogden LDS Temple for 18 years until the temple closed last week. Active in the LDS Church, she has served in many callings throughout her life. She is a member of the Susan Marriott Camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She is the mother of nine children: Georgia and Has Otto Nielsen (deceased), Fredercia, Denmark; Wendell and Dianne Elmer, Roy; Joseph and Kathy Elmer, Marriott-Slaterville; Marlene and Roger Grua, Ogden; Raylene and Robert Bush, serving in the West Indies LDS Mission; Barbara and Randy Phipps, Marriott-Slaterville; Donald and Judi Elmer, Marriott-Slaterville; James Elmer, Marriott-Slaterville; Douglas Elmer (deceased); and her stepson Dan Shurtliff, Pasadena, Calif. She has 37 grandchildren and 108 great-grandchildren. 218 |
