Show Marriott-Slaterville History March 2011 City Administrator Bill Morris gave the annual training presentation on the Open Meeting Act as well as on Unlawful Discrimination and Sexual Harassment. Central Weber Sewer District will pay for an overlay on Pioneer Road from 1900 West to 2800 West. The bid, conducted by the city, was awarded to Parsons, in the amount of about $132,000. It should be completed by October. Jeremiah Millner, 34, of Herriman, died in an industrial accident at the construction site of the Central Weber Sewer Facility. He fell 50 to 60 feet from a scaffolding system, for an unknown reason. Mr. VanLeeuwen attended the West Legacy meeting. UDOT still wants to have all traffic go onto 12^> Street. He spent considerable time explaining how that would affect the city adversely. UDOT said they would look at it again. The annual city Easter Egg Hunt for children 1 - 8, was announced in the March 2011 issue of The Pioneer Post. It will be held on April 23, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at the Slaterville Park. Joining in sponsoring the hunt are the Les Olson Company and Operation Happy Kids. To help with the spring clean-up, the City will provide a dumpster at both the Marriott Park and the Slaterville Park. They will be available from April 15-17, and are sponsored by the city and Waste Management. Rabies Clinics will be held at the Weber County Animal Shelter on April 2 and 16, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Rabies shots are $13.00. Dog licenses will be available: $10.00 spayed/neutered, $25.00 unaltered, and $5.00 for spayed/neutered owned by persons over 65. The April 2011 Senior Health Connection Newsletter, concerned Fitness for Older Adults, and was distributed at a Senior lunch in March, lt gave the dates of April screenings and seminars. It also advised that most Part D Medicare plans will cover the cost of a shingles shot. Bits and Pieces Three babies were welcomed in March 2011. Ruby Mae Krum, daughter of Daniel and Mary Krum, was born on March 3, 2011. Stran Mark Hodson, son of Shane and Carissa Hodson, was born on March 14, 2011. Miles Harrison Irvine, son of Devin and Heather Irvine, was also born on March 14, 2011. Thomas Franklin Camp died on March 30, 2011, a few days short of his 74th birthday. Congratulations go to educator Greg Lewis who has received his PhD degree. An article about the Venture Academy located in our city was a front page story on the March 4, 2011, Sentinel News. The charter school currently enrolls students age 5 to 14. Wasatch Elementary students who reached a million-minute reading goal were rewarded with a free day of fun at Toad's Fun Zone. Brad Feinman, general manager of Toad's, said the business offers a free day to all Ogden Schools. 159 |
