Call 801-387-7800). Question of the Month: ? Does Medicare cover the cost of a shingles shot? Most Part D plans cover the cost of a shingles shot. You must have a written prescription from you physician and the shot is administered at the pharmacy. It is important to call the pharmacy before you come in for the shot because there is a limited supply this year. You can be placed on a waiting list and you will be contacted when the serum is available. The shingles shot is about $200.00 with out insurance. Check with your insurance to find out if they will cover the cost. FYI; if you receive the pneumococcal vaccine for pneumonia you must wait 30 days before receiving the shingles shot.
