"We could afford to drag the boulevard, but we couldn't afford much else," Marriott said, remembering gas prices that ranged from 18 to 20 cents but sometimes as low as 12 cents a gallon. Graduates Eileen (Hart) Quinici and Jean (Roskelley) Foulks were friends in high school, but drifted apart. Five years ago they reconnected with email, and joined the car rally in a 1973 black cherry Dodge Challenger, restored by Quinici's brother. "We would cruise from Mason's to Combe's, sometimes stopping for a fresh Lime Rickey or a cherry Coke," Quinici remembered. Mostly they would just drive back and forth to see who was there and to chat a bit, Foulks explained. Foulks, who was disappointed to be separated from MIKE BRICE/Standard-Examiner correspondent Ron Hill, class of 1963, and his wife Jolene (Maurer), class of 71, drive a 1963 Lincoln Continental. In the back seat, John Marriott, class of '61, is joined by his sister, Janice Marriott, and wife, Velma Marriot. Hill often served as the driver during their days of draggin' Washington Boulevard. her friends for her senior year, said she was eager to catch up with the Weber High School graduates. "It was heartbreaking," she said. "The new school didn't have any traditions."
