Show June 1, 2011 **- NICHOLAS DRANEY/Standard-Examiner Gov. Gary Herbert surveys flooding damage in Weber County on Tuesday. Warmer temperatures should bring more runoff down from the mountains in the coming days in the Top of Utah. June 2, 2011 One that didn't get away MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE — Luke and Lene Balster were surprised to find a fish caught in their fence around 8 a.m. Wednesday after floodwaters had receded. Luke Balster documented his find with this photo senttoyourpics® standard.net. The Balsters live on the 1000 North block of 3650 West, just a few houses from where Gov. Gary Herbert stood Tuesday on a deck that seemed more like a dock on a lake during his tour of the flood devastation in Weber County. Lene Balster says she wasn't encouraged by the receding waters Wednesday. 'The river was at 27 feet at its highest. They told us to prepare for 31 feet. They told us it will most likely go into our house. We are mentally trying to prepare for that." — Standard-Examiner staff 79 |
