June 28, 2011 Anonymous customer buys phone for senior I am a senior citizen in my early 80's. Recently I went to a local electronics store to purchase a battery for my wife's cordless phone, but the cost was more than I could afford at the time. I mentioned to the clerk that the battery price was about the price of the phone when I bought it. He suggested I buy a new phone and the phone he showed me was exactly the same price as the battery. I told him I couldn't afford it at this time and left the store and went to my truck, which was parked in front of the store. Instead of getting in, I decided to walk to a store nearby for another item. When I returned to my truck, I found a new cordless phone on the hood of the truck. I took it back to the store to find out how it had gotten there. The clerk met me at the door and explained that a sweet young lady had overhead me saying I couldn't afford it so she wrote a check and placed the phone on my truck.
